(Umm Al Qaiwain) – An Emirati artist has set Umm Al Qaiwain’s first Guinness World Record with her largest display of handmade paper dolls at a single venue. Paper artist Amnah Al Fard, a resident of Umm Al Qaiwain, succeeded in setting a new record for her 1,145 dolls made entirely of paper. The 1,145 different dolls, which measured between two to three inches in height, were displayed at the Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah. They were made using the quilling technique, otherwise known as paper-rolling or filigree.
“This record is for the largest display of handmade paper dolls at a single venue. For the purpose of this record, a doll is described as a model of a human being, often used as a toy for children made only from paper. Each doll is three-dimensional, made from paper as part of a display,” said Talal Omar, Guinness World Records country manager for the Mena region.
