(Manama) – The Southern Governorate is putting the final touches on the 2017 Bahrain Sport Day, due to take place on February 7.

The event is in compliance to the recommendations of GCC National Olympic Committees’ Presidents in an attempt to involve GCC citizens in a number of sports activities on a particular day.

As build up to the upcoming gathering, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) recently hosted a coordinating meeting between the Executive Committee and representatives of the national sports federations involved in the event.

The executive committee of the Bahrain Sport Day includes Fajer Jassim and Lounes Madene, while representatives of 12 sports federations were present at the meeting.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the complete schedule of the programme, which begins at 9am. The activities timetable and venues are yet to be finalized at a later date.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee had another meeting with representatives of government authorities and Bahrain’s four governorates to coordinate efforts ahead of the opening day of events.

This meeting was chaired by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar

The Bahrain Sport Day will bring several sports competitions for youngsters and adults, including a track-and-field races and a cross country race.
