(Dubai) – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has unveiled the programme of the second Green Week, which is the biggest community initiative in the Middle East that promotes environmental sustainability, and highlights different topics related to sustainability and green economy.
Green Week, to be held from 21-26 April 2015, comprises several events. These include the 17th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2015), the second World Green Economy Summit, the Arab Oil and Gas exhibition, and other environmental activities for society as a whole.
“Green Week fits well into the long-term Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which supports theca Vision 2021 to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021.
It also supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to create a happy society and achieve the aspirations of citizens and residents. Green Week reflects DEWA’s efforts to enhance sustainability and sensible use of resources among all society. Building on last year’s success, we have added more diverse activities to this year’s programme, “said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO of DEWA.
