(Dubai) – Violins, double bass, trumpets, cellos, brass horns, oboes and many more instruments of the Welsh National Opera (WNO) received a grand applause from a Dubai audience on a breezy New Year evening. The orchestra was the main opening event of the 20th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF 2015).
Thousands of people sat out in the open in an arc around the amphitheatre at Gate 3 of Zabeel Park listening to the sounds of the world-class orchestra.
Families were seen pushing strollers of infants, eating ice cream, drinking coconut water, flying frisbees and paper planes and bicycling around the periphery of the opera venue. Footballs and baby strollers were seen in abundance, as were the excited shrieks of the young ones.
