(Abu Dhabi) – H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), attended the 10th forum of the UAE ambassadors and heads of missions abroad, which kicked off at the Ministry’s HQ.
The two-day long event comes within the keenness of the MoFAIC to boost communication and interaction among the UAE diplomats abroad to exchange views on the latest regional and international issues as well as discussing issues pertaining to the foreign policy.
Also attending were Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness; Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, as well as ambassadors and heads of the UAE missions abroad.
The forum discussed six main topics in the political, economic, diplomatic and international co-operation fields. Also reviewed were current regional and international developments and their possible implications.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy gave a speech, which centred around her ministry’s vision for enhancing international co-operation, while Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui focussed her speech on the role of the youth in the future of the UAE.
On the forum’s sidelines, the ministry hosted a reception for its strategic partners from the business sector which was attended by the Emirati businessmen, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in the UAE, and other members of the diplomatic corps.
Day two of the forum focused on the national happiness programme. During the day, Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi spoke about embedding happiness as a key value in the operations of the country’s embassies and missions.
Other topics discussed included the vision for government identity, achievements of the MoFAIC and progress and challenges of the 2014-2016 strategic round of the ministry.
