(Manama) – HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, deputised HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Athletics Federation, President of Bahrain Athletics Association to inaugurate the third Bahrain Falcon and Hunting Tournament which commenced at Bahrain International Endurance Village.

The event, sponsored by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will continue until February 18, 2017, and the first day was attended by HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid al Khalifa, Deputy President of Bahrain Supreme Council for Environment and President of “BREEF”, as well as by several members from the Royal Family.

The first week of the event will be held on HH Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup and HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, both of whom are the sons of HH Shaikh Khalid. Commenting on this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the distinguished efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to revive and maintain the traditional sports, as per the directives of HM the King, focusing on bolstering Bahrain’s authentic and genuine heritage and values.

“This event has proved it’s amongst the most and biggest successful events, not at the local level, but also at the GCC level, thanks to the intense competition it’s witnessing as well as owing to the large number of participants featured in the event,” HH Shaikh Khalid said, adding: “We have been keen to sponsor several competitions as part of this event, including the launch of a Khalid bin Hamad Cup for owner of falcons from Bahrain and GCC states, in order to support my brother HH Shaikh Nasser’s efforts in developing this kind of sport.”

HH Shaikh Khalid lauded the efforts of the Supreme Organising Committee of the event, headed by Mr. Khalifa Al Quood for their great preparations for the event.
