FM chairs 1st meeting of UAE-Colombia Joint Committee

(Bogota) – H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, and Maria Angela Holguin, Colombian Foreign Minister, have chaired the first meeting of the UAE-Colombia Joint Committee.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ways to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Colombian Foreign Minister welcomed Sheikh Abdullah, stressing that his visit to the country will open up new horizons for bilateral cooperation in various fields. She also highlighted the UAE’s outstanding stature on the global level.
The two sides discussed the progress and development witnessed by the cooperation between the two countries in various areas, in addition to reviewing ways of boosting them to serve the common interests of the two countries. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
His Highness stressed the UAE’s keenness to extend bridges of cooperation and strengthen relations with the Republic of Colombia to encourage investment and diversify areas of cooperation to serve the common interests of both sides.
The Colombian Foreign Minister commended the outstanding economic and trade partnership that combines the UAE and Colombia, wishing the UAE further successes in various fields and called for strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and his Colombian counterpart signed a number of agreements and MoUs, including the exchange of information for tax purposes, cultural cooperation, educational and sportive cooperation, in addition to a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of environmental protection, climate change and energy along with the signing of the minutes of the first meeting of the Joint Committee.
