HM King hails parliament’s role

(Manama) – His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa commended the legislative branch, hailing its dedicated efforts to assume its constitutional responsibilities and duties.
He hailed the keenness of the parliament to exercise its legislative and oversight role, as stipulated in the constitution, towards serving the nation and citizens and consolidating the democratic principles that stem from the deep-rooted national culture and values.
This came as he received at Al-Sakhir Palace Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla and Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh as well as their deputies.
The Speaker and the Shura Chairman submitted the replies of the two councils to the keynote address delivered by HM the King at the opening of the third session of the fourth legislative term.
HM the King expressed thanks and appreciation to the Speaker and the Shura Chairman, hailing their crucial role and constant contribution to serving comprehensive development, consolidating national unity and advocating the national causes.
He also commended their dedicated efforts to achieve consensus between all parties, through consultations and coordination and advocate issues of concern to citizens in order to meet their needs, in addition to upgrading laws and legislation that reflect the status of Bahrain as a country of laws and full-fledged institutions.
HM the King underscored the importance of pursuing works towards achieving more fruitful and constructive cooperation between the three branches for further progress and prosperity for Bahrain and its people.
HM the King commended the content of the replies submitted by the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, enclosing constructive proposals and ideas to enhance the performance and bolster the democratic process for national progress to continue unabated.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is resolved to continue its pioneering development progress towards achieving the welfare of its citizens and coming generations,” HM the King said.
He reiterated Bahrain’s keenness on continuing its path to preserve its fundamentals and pillars, protect liberties and respect all religions and cultures.
“Bahrain will remain the country of moderation and openness to the world in its cultural and religious diversity,” HM the King said.
The meeting focused on major national issues and ways of enhancing institutional work towards achieving goals and aspirations.
HM the King stressed the importance of mustering all efforts to meet the challenges resulting from the current situation, as the region goes through critical security and economic conditions. He wished all success in assuming national responsibilities and serving the nation and citizens.
