(Manama) – His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, attended the 120-km junior and senior race of HM the King’s Endurance Cup.

Prominent riders from Bahrain and the UAE participated in the race, which was organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) at Bahrain International Endurance Village, and sponsored by the GFH Financial Group.

On arrival, HM the King and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid were welcomed by Representative of HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and BREEF Honorary President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, BREEF President and Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Environment, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and BREEF board members, who lauded the royal support for the equestrian sports.

HH Shaikh Nasser briefed HM the King and the UAE Vice-President on the stages of the 120-km race and the number of participating riders, noting that BREEF had made all necessary arrangements for Bahraini riders to take part in all races of the season.

HM the King and the UAE Vice-President exchanged talks with the riders, wishing them every success.

After that HM King Hamad and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid watched the race.

HM the King congratulated all the winners in the race which witnessed fierce competition, praising their outstanding performance which led them to victory.

HM King Hamad lauded the distinguished efforts exerted by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad to develop the endurance sport in order to reach the highest levels, and preserve such a deep-rooted Arab sport.

HM the King expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid for his kind visit to attend the event, praising the UAE’s participation in the 120-km race, which, he said, reflects the strength of the brotherly Bahraini-UAE relations.

HM King Hamad also paid tribute to the BREEF Board Chairman and members for their successful organisation of the race, as well as for their efforts to develop the sport.

HM King Hamad lauded the successful participation of the UAE riders in the race, which, he said, affirms the depth of the long-standing relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples in various fields, particularly the sports and youth ones.

HM the King also appreciated the good results attained by Bahraini riders in various races, which, he said, reflected their outstanding competence and abilities.

HM King Hamad also thanked the race organisers, and praised their efforts to ensure its success, wishing them further success.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum commended the big strides of the endurance sport in Bahrain, underlining the great support of HM the King to it which contributed to Bahraini riders’ successes and honourable achievements in various competitions.

He added that participation of the Emirati riders is the fruitful outcome of bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in the endurance races.

The UAE Vice-President lauded the role played by HH Shaikh Nasser to develop the endurance sport in Bahrain, which, he noted, contributed to its success in reaching the highest levels.

HH Shaikh Nasser crowned the winners of the first three places. He crowned winner Salim Al Katbi, the Royal Team and Al Ruood Stables’ rider, with a gift presented by HM the King.

He also crowned the second-placed rider Rashid Al-Balushi, and third-placed rider Abdull Al-Marri, both from UAE stables.

HH Shaikh Nasser extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HM the King for his constant patronage of the endurance race, noting that the royal support and patronage have motivate all riders to showcase their outstanding abilities during the season’s most important race.

He welcomed the kingdom’s distinguished guest, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and the Dubai Crown Prince, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, for their visit to Bahrain to attend HM King Hamad’s Endurance Cup.

HH Shaikh Nasser expressed satisfaction for the distinguished technical level showcased by the riders throughout the race.

He also praised the UAE riders’ participation in the race, praising their outstanding performance, which, he said, contributed to strengthening competition among riders.

He also congratulated all the winners.

Earlier, UAE Vice-President arrived in Bahrain to attend the 120-km junior and senior race of HM the King’s Endurance Cup, and welcomed by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, Royal Court Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and BREEF President, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
