(Manama) – Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi stressed ongoing programmes to promote the role of the media sector in partnership with ministries and government bodies. He pointed out continuous communication with local and foreign mass media to highlight the development and civilizational achievements in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The minister was speaking as he chaired the periodic meeting of the media and public relations officials at ministries and government bodies. He lauded the valuable directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to government institutions and ministries to bolster coordination with the Information Ministry to unify the official media discourse.
The minister urged the media and public relations officials to avail of the latest developments in the media and telecommunications sector to optimize the professional performance and follow a comprehensive creativity vision in disclosing information, highlighting citizens’ concerns and communicating with the local and foreign public opinion to shed light on the government’s achievements under the leadership of HRH the Premier.
Al Romaihi called to boost participation in the electronic monitoring system which is run by the Information Ministry in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Court to monitor and follow up on complaints, criticism and false news in mass media and respond to them competently and professionally.
He added that setting up and regulating the National Communication Centre as per Royal Decree 84/2016 is part of the government’s quantum initiatives to upgrade the official media and enhance its effectiveness in disclosing information and debunking fallacies targeting Bahrain.
The minister reiterated the ministry’s commitment to carrying out the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister to promote the media sector and unify media discourse in cooperation with all government bodies and boost professional competence in order to raise awareness of national issues and highlight the kingdom’s achievements under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
