(Manama) – The General Directorate of Traffic has organised in cooperation with Batelco and Migrant Worker Protection Society several traffic awareness campaigns on bicycle riding safety.
The campaigns included distribution of awareness publications and around 400 helmets to encourage motorcyclists to follow traffic rules and achieve the highest levels of traffic safety.
Director of Traffic Culture said that in 2015 there were 80 bicycle-related accidents, nine fatal accidents, 33 accidents with serious injuries and 39 accidents with minor injuries.
He called upon parents to encourage their children to follow traffic safety rules while riding their bicycles. Safety rules include fixing front and back lights and wearing light clothes.
