(Abu Dhabi) – The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, EAD, has organised a forum on Sustainable Waste Management for Organisations, to mark World Environment Day, held this year under the theme, “Seven Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care”.
The event aimed to raise awareness and understanding on how organisations in the government and private sectors can support a more sustainable approach to waste management delivering significant benefits for the economy, society and the environment.
Speakers at the forum, representing government and business sectors, shared their success stories and best-practices on waste reduction.
Three experts in the field of waste management and sustainability participated in discussion panel, including Manal Al Badawi, Environmental Specialist at Borouge, a provider of plastics solutions, Linden Coppell, Head of Sustainability at Etihad Airways, and Samer Mohamed Al Hadhrami, Senior Supervisor in Facility Management at Abu Dhabi Municipality.
During the Forum, EAD published a guide entitled, ‘Sustainable Waste Management for Organisations”, encouraging organisations to reduce the amount of waste they produce and take responsibility for the collection, segregation, transfer, tracking and disposal of their waste. The publication is published in both Arabic and English and is downloadable from the EAD website.
