The UAE has provided Egypt with a total of Dh47.3 billion in humanitarian and development aid between 1971 and 2014, with Dh29 billion in 2013 and 2014 alone, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Co-operation and Development, MICAD, said.
She stressed that the UAE’s generous support for Egypt in the past decades was in response to the aspirations of the Egyptian people and in implementation of the foundations of political, economic and developmental stability to provide Egyptians with a dignified life in times of distress.
The minister stressed that the UAE’s support for Egypt is based on the approach followed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country’s founding father, who always underlined the importance of backing the security and stability of Egypt in recognition of its status, culture, rich human and developmental resources and achievements throughout history.
