Hollywood actress, and UN goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie, best known for her ravishing looks, would now be feted for her work behind the camera too after the release of her directorial debut movie ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’.
The film that revolves around a political theme and focuses on the Bosnian War, has aroused praise and criticism in Bosnia. The film depicts a hesitant, uncertain love between a Bosnian Muslim artist and a Serbian police officer, in the midst of the conflict.
Even before the release of the movie, the Oscar-winner garnered her first directing honor by winning the Producers’ Guild of America special award for portrayal of social issues. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has also shortlisted the film, written by Jolie herself, in the best foreign language category for the Golden Globes.
But in the Balkans, the film is inflaming old and deeply-held emotions.
